This week we are discussing Seismicity which refers to the occurence or frequency of earthquakes in a region.

Italy has experienced several earthquakes over the last couple of months. The following is a link to view all the recent earthquakes in Italy: http://ds.iris.edu/seismon/eventlist/index.phtml?region=Europe&lon=13.1&lat=42.88.

On August 24, 2016 292 people died from a 6.2 earthquake and several large after shocks that followed.

Italy has been very slow to put measures in place to protect it's people.

On August 31st the Italian Prime Minister introduced some major plans for disaster preparedness saying, "The national plan will be called Casa Italia and will include making structures earthquake-proof across the country and a range of other environmental measures." 1. Great title and post. Yes, the main problem they have is the poor construction....so old....those houses are not strong enough for medium quakes,...and they have known it for a long time...I hope they actually do sth about it like that article says...

  2. Great beginning of what will have been a great post. But my excitement has been short lived because you are sending us to read articles about how they implement their measures instead of summarizing it for us. I am already taking 4 classes that demand intensive reading (besides I had to turn it 4 papers this week) and I was not interested in going to read another article. A summary in your own words of those articles will have been nice. Thanks.
